Classes & Care

INFANTS

(6 WEEKS-15 MONTHS)

​

Infants are unique individuals whose needs vary from moment to moment. Teachers in the preschool’s infant program respond sensitively to each child’s signals to provide consistent care. We understand that during infancy, as at every other stage of growth, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs are intertwined.

Your baby will benefit from:

  • Educated and experienced caregivers 

  • Low caregiver to baby ratios. 

  • A warm, home-style environment dedicated solely to our infants, ensuring comfort and allowing your baby to come in  contact with fewer germs.

  • Flexible daily routine based on the individual needs of each infant. 

  • Early Communication Skills. We communicate verbally and through non-verbal gestures, our teachers read to the infants on a daily basis, they sing songs and model conversational skills. We also use picture books to build the association between sounds, objects & words.

  • Excellent Teacher to Parent Communication through drop off and pick up communication, which will include a daily report of your baby’s activities that day.

TODDLERS

(16 MONTHS - 2 1/2 YEARS)

 

Because children learn by doing, each toddler’s gifts and interests are encouraged in a nurturing environment. In our classrooms, we play a lot. The “work” of play includes storytelling, dramatic play, building with blocks, making art and music, and dancing, all of which enhance language, physical, and emotional development.

Your toddler will benefit from:

  •  An educational program created with the needs and development of young toddlers in mind.

  • A stimulating environment with plenty of toys, friends and activities.

  • Optimal cognitive development thru challenging, yet developmentally appropriate, daily lessons and activities based on Monthly Thematic Units.

  • Self-confidence and independence as we encourage toddlers to do things for themselves. This starts with basic hygiene skills such as hand washing, nose  blowing, proper use of eating utensils, & dressing, among other things

  • Open parent-teacher communication, which includes drop off and pick up time verbal updates, and conferences scheduled as needed. When parents and teachers are on the same page, the child benefits!

  • Development of the creative mind through dramatic play, art exploration, music & movement and other creative expressions.

PRESCHOOLERS

(2 1/2 - 5 YEARS)

​

In the preschool classrooms, children are able to learn and grow at their own rates and in their own ways. At this age, we provide a more structured schedule.  Each classroom’s curriculum is based on the many aspects of a child’s development, as our focus is on the whole child. We provide large- and small-group activities as well as a wide range of choices supporting interdisciplinary thematic units.

SCHOOL AGE

We understand that for many busy and working parents it is challenging to find an enriching atmosphere for before and after school care. We instill a continued love of learning for children 5 through 8years old. We are also excited to offer homework help, supervised activities, and child-directed play to pique your child's interests in a safe, friendly, and clean environment.

Your child will benefit from:

  • A preschool program with kindergarten readiness in mind.

  • Well qualified and enthusiastic teachers, bringing fresh ideas and facilitating a positive environment for optimal learning.

  • Development of fine motor skills such as cutting, and writing with a pencil.

  • Practice with social skills and interaction. Children make plenty of friends and learn how to take turns, wait in line, serve their table, and lend a helping hand

  • Daily Circle Time where children learn through the use of stories, songs, games and dramatic play.

  • “Big Kid Confidence” as they develop independence with self care and learn responsibility with classroom jobs.

  • Before school, children will have a chance to play or rest, whichever they prefer and enjoy a delicious breakfast.

  • After school, children are met at the bus, provided a healthy snack and given plenty of options for play. 

  • Our school age children will enjoy rooms designed specifically for them under close supervision of a caring, responsible teacher.

  • We will also provide care during winter & spring breaks and early school closings.

SUMMER CAMP

 

Kids just wanna have fun!  That’s why we have designed a full 10-week summer program for school age children, our Lighthouse Kids Summer Day Camp. We offer safe, fun, age-appropriate activities guaranteed to keep your kids engaged and learning all summer long. 

​

 



Open to children 5-8 years old, our Lighthouse Kids Day Camp offers a balanced program of recreational and educational activities. All meals and snacks are included in the price. The camp sessions run from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, however extended hours are available!  Campers can enroll in as little as 2 weeks of camp, and we offer 2,3, or 5 day enrollment options.
